This is an interesting compilation of contributions by ophthalmologists and psychiatrists concerning various problems of ophthalmology that have a psychiatric overlay. Fascinating is the first chapter on the psychologic importance of the eye. Another valuable chapter deals with the reaction of a patient to the loss of his sight. The emotional aspects of a child hospitalized for a strabismus operation are dealt with adequately and informatively. The factitial eye problems should always be kept in mind when the physician is dealing with an unexplainable external eye condition.
