This text represents the published proceedings of the symposium conducted by the International Perimetric Society, April 1980, in Bristol, England. As is usual for such published proceedings, the book suffers from the inclusion of multiple small chapters that apparently represent transcripts of all presentations given at the symposium. However, for those interested in experimental perimetry and clinical applications of visual psychophysics, several of these works will be of particular interest.
The numerous contributions have been broadly grouped into a series of eight categories roughly representing theoretical, methodological, topographical, and disease-specific categories. Prominent attention has been given to the sections relating to the more recent developments with computer-assisted perimetry. Most of the reports in this category deal with the results obtained with a variety of automated devices in the detection phase of perimetry. In addition, there is some discussion of the use of onboard computers for statistical analysis of perimetric
