Abstract

We are encouraged by the findings of the Laser ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity) Group published in the January 1994 issue of the Archives.1 Our own work2 showed that the diode laser was as effective as cryopexy in treating threshold disease and showed it to be safe. At the International Conference of Retinopexy of Prematurity in Chicago, Ill, in 1993, we presented a 1-year follow-up, and this preliminary report indicated that myopia was encountered significantly less often in the laser-treated group compared with the cryotherapy group.3
