Diagnosis: Rhinoscleroma

Rhinoscleroma is a chronic, slowly progressive, granulomatous lesion of the respiratory tract that is caused by the capsulated gram-negative diplobacillus Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis. Klebsiella species are found in water, soil, and plants; however, K rhinoscleromatis has never been identified in a nonhuman host and does not constitute a part of the normal nasal flora.1
