Diagnosis: Pediatric solitary mastocytoma

The term mastocytosis describes a heterogeneous group of disorders that are characterized by the proliferation and accumulation of mast cells within the skin and other organs and the release of chemical mediators by these cells.1 The spectrum of clinical disease seen in mastocytosis ranges from skin lesions that may spontaneously regress to aggressive systemic disease associated with multiorgan failure and short survival.2,3
