Nodular fasciitis, which was first described by Konwaller et al,1 is a benign, self-limited fibroproliferative disorder that appears to be reactive rather than neoplastic.2 Several other terms have been used to describe this disorder, including pseudosarcomatous fasciitis, pseudosarcomatous fibromatosis, infiltrative fasciitis, and proliferative fasciitis. The exact cause is not known, but several authors3 have suggested that trauma is an inciting mechanism.
