My colleagues and I appreciate the comments of Gordon and coworkers. They made several interesting points:

They suggested that the link between MDD and motion exposure might be "merely coincidental." We agree that this is possible, but we think that it is highly unlikely that a homogeneous group of middle-aged women should develop these symptoms merely by coincidence. They suggested that there was a lack of a "meticulous neuro-otological examination." While this was the case for some of these patients, examination was simply not possible in all given the survey design of our study.
