Aspirin Desensitization for Chronic Hyperplastic Sinusitis, Nasal Polyposis, and Asthma Triad

Arch Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg. 2001;127(10):1287. doi:

We read with interest the article by Gosepath et al1 in which they reported their clinical experience with aspirin desensitization in subjects with chronic hyperplastic sinusitis and nasal polyposis. Chronic hyperplastic sinusitis/nasal polyposis is a significant medical problem, often with few consistent therapeutic interventions. As Gospath and colleagues' study demonstrated, aspirin desensitization may be a safe and effective therapeutic procedure, but at present it is greatly underused. We therefore wish to submit our clinical experience with this procedure and confirm the positive results that were reported by Goseparth and colleagues.
