Calcium metabolism and homeostasis represent a complex process, which if disrupted can result in either increased or decreased serum calcium levels. Hypercalcemia causes a range of clinical manifestations and affects multiple organ systems, including the renal, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and central nervous systems. It is also frequently identified in an asymptomatic patient during routine laboratory screening for other causes.1
