Objective: To further define the development of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) by the process of field cancerization.
Design: Analysis of protein lysates by surface-enhanced laser-desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (SELDI-TOF-MS) and identification of candidate biomarkers by MS. Validation of differential protein expression by immunohistochemistry (IHC) on tissue microarrays.
