I have dedicated my clinical and academic pursuits to the multidisciplinary care of patients with head and neck cancer. An article of faith throughout my career has always been that there is no “we” and “they.” In delivering the best care, one's board certification should not matter, and indeed, one's discipline should not matter. Nonetheless, I am a surgeon and an unapologetic advocate for the modality. I would like to take that tack today without being held to account by my friends and colleagues in other oncologic specialties.
