Diagnosis: Low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma (LGFMS)

Low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma was first described by Evans1 in 1987. This initial report detailed 2 cases of metastatic sarcoma that had undergone previous surgery for deceptively bland-appearing soft-tissue neoplasms. In 1993, Evans2 added 10 additional cases of deep soft-tissue sarcomas to his original report, providing long-term follow-up that demonstrated a high rate of local recurrence and metastasis in 7 of 12 cases.
