In this monograph Walther Müller presents a study of the congenital malformations in the human hand. The volume contains more than one hundred excellent roentgenograms and outline drawings, which cover an unusually wide range. In the introduction Professor Müller discusses the various theories of these biologic variations. He divides his subject matter into three chapters: (1) anomalies of the skeletal anlage, (2) malformations on the basis of disturbances of the primitive hand plate and (3) congenital disturbances in the later development of hands.
The book is purely a study of the morphology of excessive, regressive and defective types. The recognized variations are pictured, as well as many little known forms. The monograph does not contain references to clinical or therapeutic measures; however, it will serve as a source book of pathologic patterns in the human hand.
