This book covers the diseases of children who are in the first five years of. life. There are a great number of textbooks on the diseases of infants, but this is unique in that it particularly concerns treatment. It contains little on pathology and etiology, nothing on prognosis and only enough on symptoms for the purpose of diagnosis. For each disease is described a method of treatment, to be used from the beginning to the end of the illness. The author explains that this one type of treatment is the best. Whether the reader agrees with him is immaterial. All of the various conditions of early childhood are thoroughly covered. For the busy practitioner who does not have time to judge between different schools of thought this book will be a blessing. It is written and printed well, and the illustrations are good.
