This is the second edition of Dr. Shands's excellent book on orthopedic surgery. To date there is no other book published which gives the medical student such a comprehensive picture of the subject. It is brief, yet adequate, and presented in a simple, understandable style.
While there have been some minor rearrangements, the text as a whole follows the same outline as his first edition. Many new illustrations have been added, and most of the previous illustrations have been redrawn. The subject matter and the carefully selected bibliography have been brought up to date.
The book is attractive; it is printed on thinner paper and is a handier size than the first volume.
