This book, which was sponsored by the American Association of Psychiatric Social Workers, deals with the development and importance of psychiatric social service. It describes the purpose and function of the psychiatric social worker, her position in the child guidance clinic and her relationship to the psychiatrist, to other social workers and to the community as a whole. Standards of training are discussed.

This book is well written by a competent worker in the field. It should prove helpful to public welfare organizations and to all persons who are interested in clinics and community or social projects, as well as to those who are interested in psychiatric work.
