This book is a collection of thirty-nine lectures intended primarily as an introduction to pediatrics for undergraduate students. It is well written and contains many excellent illustrations. The authors have stressed the treatment of the various conditions considered in the book.
The book has been completely revised and reset. The subject matter of the first twenty-four lectures is divided into four sections. The first section deals with the examination of children, infant feeding, the premature infant and some diseases of the newly born; the second is concerned with diet, disorders of nutrition and derangements of the gastrointestinal tract; the third covers congenital syphilis, tuberculosis, rickets, including achondroplasia, infantile scurvy and acrodynia and the fourth rheumatism and diseases of the heart and respiratory tract.
