Volume 1 of this series has been reviewed previously in this journal (65:518 [March] 1943). It tells of the long term metabolic studies the author and her colleagues have conducted relating to normal children. As originally planned, volume II was to deal with the interpretation of the metabolic data. Instead, the current volume is limited in scope to the presentation of the records of 33 children who have served as subjects for the studies. A third volume, not yet published, will deal with the analysis and interpretation of the data.
More than half of the children were studied recurrently for periods of many months. Their records portray the progress of such children, each as a psychobiologic unit, and also present in detail the static and progressive values for many physical and physiologic constants.
