Abstract

This volume is a distinctly practical handbook of ophthalmic procedures except for major surgical methods. It presents considerable detail pertaining to dosage of medicines, aids in examination and minor diagnostic and surgical procedures, with a minimal discussion of theoretic aspects. The procedures recommended are those commonly employed in sound ophthalmic practice. Little in the book can be said to be new or heterodox, and the author makes no claim to originality. The text is well prepared and clearly and simply written, while the illustrations are excellent. The book should be of use to ophthalmologists, of course, but, more than most ophthalmic texts, it should be of considerable usefulness to all physicians called on to treat the eye. It can be especially recommended to pediatricians because of the separate consideration throughout the text of ocular abnormalities in infants and children.
