This small volume contains the essential facts needed to manage emergency situations. The material presented is brief and to the point and contains no more information than would be expected of a manual. Only accepted principles of treatment are stressed, and it is unlikely that anyone could criticize the authors for the therapeutic suggestions presented. It does seem unwise to the reviewer, however, to attempt to present the management of conditions such as coronary thrombosis, surgical shock or cardiac arrhythmias in a manual of this type, since the treatment of such entities cannot be adequately discussed in only a few short pages.
