Adolescent HomosexualityDare We Ask the Question?

Serious disparities related to sexual orientation adversely affect the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth.1 Running away, homelessness, difficulties in school, tobacco and other substance use, suicidality, eating disorders, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases are among the many medical and psychosocial challenges they face.2 Existing data suggest that rates of these problems have not abetted over time in LGBT populations.3,4
