This tenth volume of the "Psychoanalytic Study of the Child" continues to meet the high standards set in previous issues. All people who work with children will find the articles of interest, and child psychiatrists and others interested in theoretical aspects of analytic work will find this volume a necessity.

Articles have been placed in three sections, dealing with (1) "Problems of Ego Development," (2) "Genetic Problems," and, (3) "Problems of Psychosexual Development." Typical of papers in the second section are those by Greenacre of fetishism and Mahler on symbiotic child psychosis. In the final section are articles by Spitz, Fraiburg, and many others. Of especial pediatric interest is the paper by Jessner and her group, on "Emotional Impact of Nearness and Separation for the Asthmatic Child and His Mother."
