This is a combined textbook and workbook for use by speech correctionists, teachers, or parents in speech therapy with children from 4 to 9 years of age. This attractively illustrated book with durable hard covers provides well-conceived, original stories for speech sound stimulation and provocative exercises to facilitate recognition, discrimination, and correct articulation of speech sounds. Although the book possesses considerable merit it suffers from several deficits, foremost among them the fact that it is grossly overpriced. The incorporation of the workbook with the text book, although lauded by the publisher as an outstanding feature, is a decided shortcoming in that it limits use of the book to a single child and renders it unsuitable for use with other children. Lack of indexing for specific sounds hampers the therapist's quick selection of material for emphasis in a particular area.
