The author devotes special thought to the care of the well baby from various viewpoints and formulates some principles to be passed on to practitioners in Pediatrics—an effort which is certainly worthwhile, and one with which I am in great sympathy. As is well known and currently is being greatly discussed, the care of the well baby occupies a large proportion of the pediatrician's time but still receives relatively little attention in teaching schedules and in the literature. In addition, there are sections of the book which contain helpful practical information on caring for the well baby.
However, the book is a strange mixture, and some of the information contained in it is based on strong personal opinion on the part of the author, with little objective data to support it. Very specific "cook book" kind of instructions are offered to the pediatrician as to what to say to parents
