The second edition of Water, Electrolyte and Acid-Base Balance, by Dr. Harry F. Weisberg, has the noteworthy addition of many charts and figures to enhance its value to the student and practitioner who is interested in a good, detailed explanation of normal and pathological physiology of body fluids.

The book is well organized, well illustrated, and complete enough for most readers, although as in most texts on this subject simplicity has been sacrificed for completeness and accuracy. The careful reader who wishes more than a superficial summary can find understanding but he must still work for it.

Although the basic information is there, the pediatrician will find inadequate discussion of many problems of pediatric importance. There is too little description of fluid administration to the postoperative newborn, to the infant with adrenal-genital syndrome, and to the child with anuria.
