This book is an effort on the part of the faculty of the University of Tennessee Medical School to "combine brevity and clarity with a proper degree of comprehensiveness." The 20 contributors display thorough knowledge of their respective fields with a commendable degree of common sense, and their product is well edited by Dr. Hughes, an outstanding pediatric professor, clinician, and editor.
The reviewer used this book as a quick reference for several weeks and found the commoner problems of pediatric practice well covered and even some of the rarer entities represented. It is not a comprehensive reference book, nor was it intended as such, but contains a wealth of information and review material that would help anyone concerned with the medical care of children. The chapters on growth and development and allergic diseases in children are particularly excellent. No errors of factual data were discovered. A unique method of
