Abstract

This valuable publication is based on a postgraduate course in pediatrics given by Swiss orthopedists. It is composed of a series of papers dealing with orthopedic problems in pediatric practice. The articles on "Slipped Epiphysis of the Head of the Femur" and "Aseptic Necrosis of the Lower Extremity and Its Treatment" are written in French; the papers on "Congenital Luxation and Subluxation of the Hip-Joint," "Scoliosis," "Diagnosis and Treatment of Foot-Deformities in Childhood" and "Cerebral Palsy: Orthopedic-Neurological Problems" are written in German. These articles include excellent illustrations and diagrams.

Of special practical interest is the paper on "Congenital Luxation and Subluxation of the Hip-Joint" by M. E. Mueller of the Surgical Clinic of the St. Gallen Kantonsspital, St. Gallen, Switzerland. Dr. Mueller adds diagnostic refinement to the difficult diagnosis of borderline cases of subluxation in the newborn period and early infancy.
