"Feed a fever and starve a cold—or is it the other way around?" epitomizes the therapeutic quandary each of us occasionally faces. Moreover, be the problem mundance or esoteric, having handy the conventional wisdom to call on for assistance would seem to be a reasonable "want" (or is it "need"?) of most physicians. There is much to be said in the dictum—It is not what you know, it is if you know where to look it up! Responding so to speak to the demand, Gellis and Kagen have provided a treatise on therapy in which one can look it up.

Attractively packaged with a clean format—but virtually devoid of pictures on how to—the first edition weighs in at 2,160 gm (4¾ lb). (No doubt in reaching the maturity of a second edition, a gain to more than 2,500 gm (5½ lb) should be expected.) Contributors to this compendium number 248;
