To the Editor: It was most gratifying to have read the very excellent article in the July issue of American Journal of Diseases of Children by Drs Richards and Patrick of Los Angeles on the subject of mortality from asthma in children. Dr. George B. Logan's editorial comment on asthma as a lethal disease will also assist in bringing this pediatric problem, with its associated morbidity and mortality, to the attention of pediatricians.

I wish to confirm the findings of Drs. Richards and Patrick in that the overall mortality from asthma in the pediatric age group is increasing In a review of deaths due to bronchial asthma in the pediatric age group in St. Vincent's Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, and University Hospital, a total of 12 children were studied. In every one of these cases, death was due to iatrogenic causes, mainly too much or not enough indicated therapy for the
