Abstract

The authors have presented a clear and concise discussion of the clinical findings of the more common forms of congenital heart disease. The cardiologist, however, will not find the detailed aspects of cardiac anomalies. A succinct description of cardiac catheterization and angiocardiography is presented. Great emphasis has been placed on the roentgenologic and angiocardiographic aspects of congenital heart disease. Superimposed diagrammatic illustrations of the cardiac contours on roentgenograms aid in protraying the abnormalities produced by heart disease. Associated electrocardiographic and phonocardiographic findings are illustrated. Although the reproductions of the phonocardiograms are not perfect, the supplemental descriptions are adequate.

This book will not replace the conventional textbook of cardiology but does provide a succinct disussion of the clinical findings with an excellent presentation of the roentgenographic and angiographic features of the more common types of congenital heart disease.
