The author presents a limited view of speech therapy with the cerebral palsied (cp) as well as of the entire problem of cerebral palsy in general. What she is describing is an art rather than a science and if this distinction can be kept in mind by the reader, the book should be of value to persons who are not familiar with the Bobath system. The book appears to be written at a level that is slightly above that of the knowledgeable layman. It would be most useful to persons involved with the habilitation of cp children who are operating under close medical supervision, in that there is little or no theory or theoretical background material. The useful application of the techniques described would appear to me to presuppose a wide knowledge of the basics of cp.
