The senior author of this book is director of the Third Women's Clinic at Prague and makes a good case for his belief that the subject he treats belongs in the domain of the gynecologist. The authors have an extensive experience with pediatric gynecology and numerous case reports are woven into the text to illustrate points.
Approximately one third of the book is devoted to a general delineation of the gynecologic problems in childhood, parameters of growth, physiologic and psychologic changes of infancy through puberty, and it gives detailed instructions for methods of history taking and physical examination in these age groups. The remainder treats special diseases in greater detail, eg, infectious diseases of the genital tract, congenital anomalies, menstrual disorders, disturbed puberty, traumatic lesions, and a small section concerns neoplastic changes. In addition, the authors cover diseases of the urinary tract and discuss roentgenologic and forensic aspects. Throughout the
