Summarizing the current knowledge of respiratory infections, with a minimum of technical terms, the author has produced a small jewel of a book for the intellectual layman as well as the more knowledgeable scientist. Among those who could appreciate the book are intelligent parents who want an explanation more detailed than can be given in an office visit for their child's frequent colds or sore throats. The physician himself who will benefit from having his knowledge of virology and bacteriology of these infections catalogued simply and quickly as he discovers new clinical studies and solidifies his own opinions of the causes and treatment of respiratory disease; persons working in all health related fields including nurses, social workers and technicians; college students, especially those interested in science.
The title of the book may be misleading as short, valuable chapters on the tonsil problem, sudden death in infants, allergic diseases, fungal diseases,
