This is a progress report on a growing baby; his appearance and characteristics at birth were reviewed in this publication (Robertson, W.O., 108:216 [Aug] 1964). Many changes have occurred since then, and most are for the better. Weighing in at 4¾ lb with 747 pages at birth, he now has 1,029 pages and weighs 5½ lb.
Following the second edition by two years, this edition is not designated on the cover by the years involved, but is simply embossed with a large "3." The authors have indicated that one may expect successive editions to appear every two years, and practicing pediatricians and others interested in caring for children might as well get used to paying a significant sum on even years, like meeting an occupational fee, in order to have this valuable, time-saving book at hand.
