The fifth edition of Gellis and Kagan's Current Pediatric Therapy is in some respects a significant improvement over previous editions of this popular and useful addition to the pediatric therapeutic armamentarium. The editors have asked the almost 300 contributors to this edition to provide only information relative to treatment, thus reducing in size and verbiage the entire book as well as most of the individual articles. Previously this book was essentially a textbook of pediatrics with a therapeutic emphasis; the current edition has eliminated a great deal of information relating to history, examination, diagnosis, and laboratory findings, and provides this type of material only when it relates to or influences therapy.
Current Pediatric Therapy continues to present a logically organized group of monographs on each organ system, as well as separate sections covering nutrition, metabolic disorders, infectious diseases, allergies, accidents, and the newborn. The list of contributors is impressive, and
