For the beginning student and the general pediatrician, the complexity of a discipline such as pediatric cardiology may seem bewildering. Most available textbooks, in addition to their high cost, fail to present the simple basics, but plunge ahead into the details of the many types of congenital heart lesions encountered in infants and children. The present volume by Dr. Moller of the University of Minnesota offers an alternative to the student in a short, compact, low-priced paperback.

Designed for the junior medical student as an introduction to pediatric cardiology, it has also found appeal to pediatric house officers and cardiac surgical fellows, and would seem useful to practicing pediatricians whose training may have been prior to the current understanding of the pathophysiology of congenital heart disease or to those wishing to refresh their general knowledge of the subject.
