Glaucoma in infants and children is an unusual pediatric eye problem. The early recognition of glaucoma is essential to the preservation of vision. Because ophthalmologists rarely have the opportunity to screen normal children and often are not the first to judge ocular signs, it is essential that pediatricians be aware of the threat of glaucoma.

Dr. Kwitko's book is an exhaustive presentation of the present status and experience with children's glaucoma. He reviews the appropriate embryology, normal anatomy, pathology, classification of glaucomas, diagnosis, associated abnormalities, differential diagnosis, and treatment in regard to this area of ophthalmology. In addition, much pediatric ophthalmology is presented that does not have a direct bearing on his subject. The presentation is detailed and encyclopedic in form. The author's personal experiences or observations seem often obscure or inadequately delineated amidst the references to other authors.
