Teachers and practitioners in the field of pediatric dentistry have long felt the need for a complete text on periodontal disease in children and adolescents. This new text, in addition to discussing periodontal disease, includes an extensive coverage of systemic diseases with oral manifestations. The reviewer found this added much to the expressiveness of the book. Although most of this material can be found in other textbooks, it is advantageous to find it combined and supplemented with the author's personal experiences. In this respect, the authors, Paul N. Baer, DDS, and Sheldon D. Benjamin, DDS, both diplomates of the American Board of Periodontology, and their eight contributors, all of whom are distinguished in their fields, have made significant contributions. Generally, the book is well-written and easy to read. It contains nearly 400 illustrations, all in black and white. The majority of them are good and bring out important features; however,
