Nineteen discrete essays that embrace the thoughts of 26 authors on important facets of pediatric urology have been selected for review by editors Johnston and Goodwin. The essays range from 12 to 40 pages in length. In most instances, previous contributions to the literature serve to identify each writer as an authority on the topic at hand; for example, the chapter entitled "Distal Urethral Stenosis" comes from Richards P. Lyon, who has given us the eponym

"Lyon ring." Likewise, Guy Lead-better describes and evaluates the method of urethral reconstruction for incontinence that is associated with his name. In a typical chapter, the author defines the topic or problem, outlines its background by citing key articles providing the work of others in the field, and then gives his (or their) own data and observations; the author then concludes with a current appraisal and recommendations as to management where applicable.
