Abstract

Aspects of family life covered in this bibliography are working mothers, types of families, and divorce.

Mushy Eggs, by Florence Adams (Putnam, 1973). A warm, tender story about two boys whose familiar babysitter returns to her homeland, Italy, so the boys must adjust to a new sitter. Ages 4 to 6.

City in Winter, by Eleanor Schick (Macmillan, 1973). This single-parent story features a live-in grandma, and a snowstorm that results in a school holiday. Ages 3 to 6.

The Night Daddy, by Maria Grippe (Delacorte, 1971). The story of a friendship between a girl and a young man writer who is hired to stay with her at night while her mother works as a nurse. The setting is Sweden, but the alternate babysitting arrangement is interesting. Sequel, Julia's House. Ages 8 to 11.

All Kinds of Families, by Norma Simon (A Whitman, 1976). This successful nonfiction book explores in
