Watching the New Baby, by Joan Samson (Atheneum, 1974). Photographs illustrate information about a newborn, beginning with the mother's pregnancy and showing the baby's needs, stages, and the older sister. Ages 3 and up.

The Secret World of the Baby, by Beth Day and Margaret Liley (Random, 1965-1968). Illustrated with photographs, this book has lots of information about embryos, newborns, and infancy. Ages 5 and up.

Our New Baby's ABC, by Beman Lord (Walck, 1964). A simple book for preschoolers. Ages 2 to 4.

On Mother's Lap, by Ann Herbert Scott (McGraw-Hill, 1972). Jealous Michael suggests there won't be room for him and the new baby in the rocking chair. "You know, it's a funny thing," his mother tells him, "but there's always room on mother's lap." Eskimo family, lovely illustrations. Ages 2 to 6.

Go and Hush the Baby, by Betsy Byars (Viking, 1971). An older brother resents being
