On Mother's Lap, by Ann Herbert Scott (McGraw-Hill, 1972). Jealous Michael suggests there won't be room for him and the new baby in the rocking chair. "You know, it's a funny thing," his mother tells him, "but there's always room on mother's lap." Eskimo family, lovely illustrations. Ages 2 to 6.
