Abstract

Sir.—In their article "Pasteurella multocida Osteomyelitis Following Dog Bites" in the Journal (1981; 135:625-627), Dr Jarvis and associates state "Pasteurella multocida... has not been reported to be associated with osteomyelitis following a dog bite." I searched the pertinent literature and uncovered four additional cases of P multocida osteomyelitis in patients who were bitten by dogs.1,2 Two of these patients were children aged 3 and 9 years old.2
