The third edition of Behrman's Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine has been edited by Fanaroff and Martin, with the help of Merkatz. This large book attempts to cover the rapidly expanding field of fetal and newborn medicine. It provides information on regional organization of perinatal care, organization of routine and special care nurseries, problem pregnancies and fetal evaluation, biomedical techniques for monitoring the fetus and newborn, assessment of the newborn, emergency care, and pathophysiology of neonatal disease by systems. It contains about 25% more text and 213 additional illustrations than the previous (1977) edition.
