Sir.—I enjoyed reading the article by Richard and Mary Krugman1 on emotional abuse in the classroom. I have a question and a comment. Did a pediatrician or any physician play a role in this case? I notice that the teacher involved (Mr X) was transferred to another school, undoubtedly to disrupt another classroom. A few short years ago transfer was the method of dealing with institutional abuse as well. We have gone beyond that stage now. As pediatricians we should influence the school board to recognize such behavior as abusive and to remove teachers of that type from further contact with students.
