This publication is very attractive with illustrations and photographs that will appeal to many parents. However, I think the authors have promised readers more than can be achieved. Parents are likely to be frustrated and some will be disappointed when their infant does not behave and progress as described. I would say the same about other books that aim to teach sports skills to young children. Many would not be ready for the program and would be labeled failures because of high expectations.

There are some good sections on parent-child relationships. I was hoping to see more emphasis on the fun of parent and infant playing together in the water, before I encountered the terms on page 9, ie, "determination," and "rigid rules," and the statement that "success is assured when they are faithfully followed."
