This is a valuable text for pediatricians, family physicians, nurses, and other professionals who provide ambulatory care for children. In the prologue, the editors state that the third edition has been expanded to include in-depth coverage in the areas of behavioral and developmental pediatrics. While these areas are extremely important for young medical care providers who are just out of training, they are also welcome to those of us who were trained in the era when such issues as adolescent medicine, psychosocial pediatrics, and school health were not "fashionable" topics. Drs Green and Haggerty have brought together many of the finest physicians in these fields to write this text, and have contributed excellent chapters in their own special areas of interest as well.
