John is a valuable member of our editorial team. He combines a strong academic background in neonatology and gastroenterology-nutrition with educational interests and research pursuits. John received his education sequentially at Stanford (Calif) University, The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, and Stanford through the residency years. He received specialized fellowship training at Stanford, the University of Paris (under Drs Alfred Jost and Robert Jacquot), and the National Institute of Mental Health, Bethesda, Md (under Dr Louis Sokoloff). He currently is professor and chairman of pediatrics at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, having joined the faculty in 1979. He was president of the Society for Pediatric Research in 1983-1984 and of the Western Society for Pediatric Research in 1985-1986. John has been the recipient of a number of research and teaching awards. He has authored more than 60 articles and is highly respected in neonatology. He is married to Jane; they
