Sir.—The basis for this theory and chiropractic treatment is a book by Ferreri and Wainwright, Breakthrough for Dyslexia and Learning Disabilities.1 The book offers no research support, aside from a "study" done by Ferreri.2 This article is a onepage description of his concepts, which appeared in an unedited journal.
The authors of this book theorize that learning disabilities are caused by cranial faults, cloacal reflexes, and ocular locks.
Cranial Faults.—The authors speculate that learning disabilities occur because of a displacement of the sphenoid and temporal bones that cause neurologic problems by creating unequal pressure areas on the brain. They believe that the diaphragm is connected to the vertebrae, pelvis, and skull by a series of ligaments and that specific fascia connect the diaphragm to the occipital, sphenoidal, and temporal bones in the cranium, causing movement of the skull when a Person breathes.1(p71) They further speculate
