When there is a lull in our busy Ben Taub Pediatric Emergency Center, I enjoy getting to know the medical students who spend 2 weeks with us. Some of the questions I ask them are, "Where are you from?" "Do you have brothers and sisters?" and "Have you decided on a specialty yet?" In answer to the last question, students often tell me, "I'm thinking about pediatrics—I've always liked kids."
