The new edition has expanded and updated the first edition. The book fills a definite need in the discipline of pediatric hematology/oncology and presents a succinct overview of the field. As a source, it needs to be supplemented by the review articles cited as suggested readings at the end of each chapter or by a more extensive search of the literature.

The particular strength of the book is the organization of material into algorithmic figures and tables, since the text on any specific topic is very brief, yet very readable. The organization of each section could be improved if each figure or table were integrated into the text. Frequently, brief textual segments separate the relevant text from the figures or tables.
